Cheers........

I have been travelling a little more than usual lately. After spending a night in Raleigh Durham last week, I find myself in Boston, MA on this Thursday morning. After arriving last night I went for a walk in the neighborhood. I am in the downtown financial district and visited the Quincy Market where all the tourists and street performers are. It took me 2 blocks to run into my first homeless person and 3 blocks to be appraoched by a young couple begging for spare change. I wasn't just imaginging in London, I believe they must be doing something there to take better care of their people in distress. God Bless the Queen!

I walked by Cheers and the bar inside looked exactly like it did on TV. I thought about going in for a beer but I imagined myself being a bit too much like the accountant dude.... (can't remember his name....Norm?). A great line from the show is when he walks in, the bartender asks him "hey what's going down?" and he responds...."my ass on this bar stool!".

I ended up back at the hotel before long as I found little here that was nearly as inspiring as what I saw in London.

I enjoyed reading my son's latest post regarding his 4th of July and it inspired me to write something. I have been to a lot of places in the past 7 months (Newark, Portland, Anchorage, Honolulu, Pearl Harbor, Green Bay, Milwaukee, Cincinnati, Louisville, Nashiville, West Palm Beach, Miami, Raleigh-Durham, and Boston to name a few) and probably a few places I cannot even remember. I suppose I could add St. Maarten, St. Thomas, Tortolla, Key West, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel too. Today.... I wish I would have written something about all those places.... while in those places. There is truth to the saying "out of sight, out of mind". There is nothing like being in the place and in the moment.

Blogging is a way to share and document some of those experiences. I hope that when Tony is 64, he will sit and re-read everything he has written. I cannot imagine anything giving one more enjoyment than re-living moments that were actually written about in detail.... through ones life.

All of this said, I have nothing exciting to say about Boston yet, but it is my first of two days here......and right now, I have to get to work!
