Once again, far away from home....

Well, it certainly has been some time since the last blog. For some reason, the travel distance from home seems to invoke the blogging spirit. On this 12th day of August 2007 I find myself on the shores of Puerto Rico at the Caribe Hilton. Everyone here appears to be on vacation....except me. The winds are crashing the waves upon the shore here, but the private beach is protected by the rip-rap rock penninsula. I can see the top of a cruise ship in the distance looking towards Old San Juan. They will be leaving late tonight after giving all the mainland visitors time to board the ship. I will simply watch as the ship pulls out (with even more people on vacation) and heads for somewhere in the southern caribbean.

I will be at Banco Bilbaio Viscayez tomorrow, BBVA for short. It's OK though, if you have to be out of town working.... better San Juan, Puerto Rico vs. Toledo, OH. Here the weather is hot and humid but the Margarita's are cold and refreshing. The ocean air feels soothing, and the waves crashing into the shore can put you in a trance. Tomorrow I jump in a cab to God knows where. The bell captain told me that it will take me one hour by taxi...... but if I need to park a car (which I do not), I better leave 2.5 hours prior to my meeting because it is a struggle for parking on the island (he was serious). I believe PR is 40 miles wide and 130 miles long (I will check this) but there is really nowhere to park your car. There is a very fixed amount of land here.....and every vehicle that is imported to PR makes it that much more difficult to find a place to park. Tomorrow, I will arrive to the bank by taxi cab!
